Fish Collagen Treats for Pet's Skin & Coat

Fish Collagen Treats for Pet's Skin & Coat

Fish Head Broth for Skin & Coat Health

A collagen-rich recipe with the power of antioxidants and Vitamin C to promote healthy, glowing skin in pets.

Why is Collagen Essential for Skin Health?

Collagen is the primary protein in connective tissues, making up to 70% of the dermis in your pet’s skin. It provides strength, elasticity, and hydration, forming the structural foundation of healthy skin and a shiny coat. As pets age, their natural collagen production decreases, leading to dryness, irritation, or dull coats. Adding collagen-rich foods helps:

  • Restore elasticity in the skin.
  • Prevent dryness and flaking.
  • Strengthen nails and hair follicles, reducing shedding.
  • Support wound healing and reduce inflammation.

Why Fish Heads Over Chicken Bones?

Fish heads are a collagen powerhouse, offering Type I collagen, which is highly bioavailable and specifically benefits the skin, coat, and bones. Unlike chicken bones, fish heads:

  • Contain Omega-3 fatty acids that reduce inflammation and boost skin hydration.
  • Are rich in glycine, an amino acid crucial for repairing skin and gut tissues.
  • Offer unique nutrients like iodine and selenium for maintaining skin barrier function.

Antioxidants & Vitamin C: A Must for Radiant Skin

Antioxidants combat free radical damage, a leading cause of dullness, irritation, and aging in your pet’s skin. Vitamin C, though not naturally synthesized by dogs, enhances collagen synthesis and amplifies the antioxidant effects of other nutrients. Together, they:

  • Reduce oxidative stress, especially in pets exposed to pollutants or sun.
  • Promote faster recovery from wounds or hot spots.
  • Boost immune responses, improving overall skin health.

The Role of Herbs in Skin Health

The addition of turmeric, ginger, basil, and garlic elevates the broth by providing anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties:

  • Turmeric: Rich in curcumin, which fights inflammation and supports healing.
  • Ginger: Stimulates circulation, promoting better nutrient delivery to the skin.
  • Basil: Provides antioxidants like flavonoids and vitamin K for cellular protection.
  • Garlic: A natural detoxifier that supports immune health and combats infections.
