A gentle recipe to nourish your pet’s body back to balance
Life with pets comes with its own share of ups and downs.
When our dogs fall sick, go through surgery, or recover from infection, their bodies need more than medicine — they need gentle nourishment that helps rebuild strength from the inside out.
This healing, hydrating soupy bowl is designed to:
-
Support hydration after illness or medication
-
Provide easy-to-digest nutrition
-
Calm inflammation naturally
-
Aid detoxification from strong drugs
-
And gently support the immune system as they heal
Ingredients (for 2–3 servings)
Protein (base):
-
White fish (rohu, mackerel, or pomfret) OR lean meat — 150–200 g

Bottle gourd – ½ cup chopped
-
Carrot – ½ cup chopped
-
Spinach or drumstick leaves – ½ cup
-
Coriander – handful (freshly chopped for the end)

Method
-
Assemble your base: Add fish/meat and all vegetables into a deep pan.
-
Add herbs (turmeric, ginger, garlic, cinnamon) and cover with enough water (about 4 cups).
-
Simmer gently for 40–45 minutes on low heat.
Let it infuse slowly — the goal is to slowly infuse minerals, amino acids, and gentle healing compounds. -
Strain or serve with soft veggies depending on your dog’s comfort.
-
Once cooled to lukewarm, mix in the Good Mama supplements.
-
Serve as a warm, soupy meal or pour over their regular food for added hydration and recovery support.
Nutrition Notes for Recovery
Hydration First:
During recovery, pets often lose fluids due to fever, medications, or low appetite. A soupy meal replenishes electrolytes and encourages drinking even when food feels heavy.
Protein for Repair:
Lean proteins (fish, chicken) supply essential amino acids for wound healing, tissue repair, and rebuilding muscle. Avoid fatty or red meats during this phase.
Alkalising Veggies for Detox:
Bottle gourd, ash gourd, and greens help balance body pH and support liver–kidney detox — especially important after antibiotics or anesthesia.
Herbs that Heal:
-
Turmeric + Ginger + Cinnamon → reduce inflammation and boost circulation.
-
Garlic (in tiny amounts) → natural antibacterial and immune modulator.
-
Coriander → supports gentle liver cleansing and cools the body.

Keep Meals Light but Frequent:
Split meals into 3–4 small portions through the day to avoid overwhelming digestion.
Emotional Recovery:
Healing isn’t only physical. Stay present, speak softly, and create a calm environment. Stress delays recovery more than we realise.
Recovery Do’s & Don’ts
Do:
✔️ Offer fresh, warm meals
✔️ Keep hydration high with broths or infused water
✔️ Allow rest with short, gentle walks
✔️ Track appetite, stool, and energy daily
Don’t:
> Force heavy meals or rich meats
> Give processed bones, biscuits, or processed treats
> Use strong chemical cleansers near your pet’s resting space
> Skip vet follow-ups if healing feels slow
Healing is slow magic — it happens one bowl, one nap, one gentle breath at a time.
If your pet is recovering from illness, infection, or surgery, this soupy meal is a beautiful place to start.
